Description: This session will review how modern solutions for emulating batteries are the right approach for faster, scalable and more repeatable testing of new automotive power electronic components. As electrification is evolving to higher power demands, the ability to emulate a battery with speed and precision is critical. Testing with batteries is an extremely time-consuming and costly challenge for the EV industry. Battery emulation, using regenerative bi-directional DC sources, is a modern test approach that substantially reduces test time, energy consumption and operating costs. However, not all battery emulators or battery simulators are designed optimally to provide accurate results. In this lightning talk, learn about new technology trends in battery emulation and key factors in selecting the right test solution. We will also cover how technologies are used today in R&D and production for DC Fast Chargers, Powertrain, and other EV applications.
